If you live in Britain and you follow this journal, you may wish to go and get yourself this week's Spectator and look up the 'Dear Mary' column for your amusement.
I am not sure whether the little picture will be readable. If not, double click. It is all thanks to my old pal Jeremiah, who ran into Dear Mary at a London cocktail party. He drew her attention to an old blog post of mine regarding Offending Feet on Tables.

All hail - for once - the fatuous London cocktail party circuit. The diplo-mate's tentacles are everywhere! And I do think your statement of the dilemma is worthy of a literary award in itself.

Do hope you're coming in December after all.

Ah, Davide!
I am not coming now!
I would have loved to see you but in the end I could not justify spending British Library Funds on a London visit since the problems have ironed themselves out, at least for the moment.
Let's plan something fab in the spring! Have you ever been to St. Petersburg?

Have I ever been to St Petersburg?? Shto ti (what are you like), Sofia!

I think the south-coast Iceland experience would be just the thing, though - but not until late May or June.

Sophie I think Mary's suggested solution of a bespoke footstool for 'the feet on the table' problem is an excellent suggestion'!!
